Overseer Leonard C. Jones, Jr
Overseer Leonard C. Jones Jr. was born the eldest child to Leonard C. Jones Sr. and Deaconess Dwayla M. Williams on March 30, 1963.He received the beginning stages of his formal training in the Church of the Living God, 2251 N. Lincoln Ave, Altadena, California, where his grandfather, the late Overseer Edward Streeter, was the Founder and Pastor. Incidentally, he was also the nephew of the former president of The Church of the Living God’s National Assembly, the late Bishop J. A. McFall.
He was baptized at the age of 11 by his grandfather, the late Overseer Edward Streeter.
While under the tutelage of Overseer Streeter, he served as an usher, junior deacon, and percussionist until he received his calling into the ministry at the age of 24.
Upon completion of high school, he attended Pasadena City College where he prepared to obtain his degree in General Education. He also attended Lavern Theological Seminary School, Nazarene Theological Seminary School, and Bethany Baptist College to obtain a degree in theology. However, before completing his degree, he was ordained as Pastor of the Church of the Living God–Altadena, California, where he proclaimed the gospel until he and his family relocated in July 2009 to the Church of the Living God – Temple #1, Dallas, Texas. There he served as Associate Minister under the leadership of the National Assembly’s former Vice President, the late Bishop Charles C. Junior.
In February of 2010, during his tenure under the late Bishop Junior, he was informed that he was to serve as Interim Pastor for the Church of the Living God P. G. of T – Wichita Falls, TX due to the health problems of their then Pastor, the late Overseer Nathaniel “Skip” Mosley and on February 19, 2011 he was officially appointed as their present Pastor.
Since relocating to Wichita Falls, he has united with the Minister’s Alliance and is very involved with projects pertaining to the redevelopment of the city’s East Side among other projects that the Alliance is intensely involved in
In February 2011, after prayerful consideration, by the Board of Bishops, our Heavenly Father saw fit to have the then Elder Jones elevated to the office of Overseer.
He has been happily married to his soul mate, 1st Lady Angie Jones, for 16 years even though they have known each other for over 37 years. They are the proud parents of 3 lovely children and 11 wonderful grandchildren.
But, far and beyond all his distinguishable accolades, the most important one of all is that he is a Christian and a True Man of God.
